The
size of hosta varieties is one way to narrow the choices down.
The location or plant site will somewhat determine the plant
size. Several small spreading hostas can be placed in 2 foot
square area, whereas, a “Blue Angel’ hosta would
quickly overwhelm a small area.
Hosta
varieties can also be selected from leaf appearance. Hostas
have many leaf sizes and leaf colors. Choosing a hosta variety
to enhance a garden with its unique leaf color is common.
Hosta plantings can be striking and colorful when the leaf
colors are chosen by gardeners in order to show or draw attention
to a particular area in a garden.
