Fortunei |
| The
hosta fortunei is a vigorous hosta cultivar that has oval and
pointed, matte, dark green leaves. In midsummer the hosta fortunei
bears mauve flowers. This hardy perennial is used for shaded
gardens with large, bold leaves that are often marked with contrasting
colors. |
| Leaves
range in shape from round to lance-shaped, and colors can be
yellow to green to blue, often with white, yellow or green marginal
markings. Lavender to white flowers grows on stalks in early
summer. The hosta fortunei provide wonderful contrast when planted
with small-leaved plants, adding texture to the landscape.
The sun will bleach the leaves from their
green color to a parchment yellow color. Removing the flower
heads after they are spent will enhance the attractiveness
of the hosta fortunei. The flowers are purple and arrive in
the spring and early summer.
